One year ago, on August 30, we launched. One year ago we celebrated for the first time with our friends, family, and community in Vancouver and started our journey together. And we’re overwhelmed by how much as happened since then –– we’ve traveled around the world with you, got to meet you in places like Hawai‘i, LA and France, shared stories, collaborated with some rad brands and artists that inspire us, and given back, grown with, and learned from organizations like Surfrider Vancouver. But, most importantly, we’ve built this global Collective of the most open-minded, open-hearted and conscious humans around the world and for that, we’re so proud and grateful.

 

For our birthday, we invited our local Collective in Vancouver to celebrate the way we know how; with good energy, good people, and doing good, together. We started the morning with an oceanside meditation led by our friend Anita Cheung and ended the day with our Surfrider Vancouver family on a collaborative beach cleanup. As our chosen non-profit partner for Chapter I, we wanted to do something meaningful to commemorate our year together, and with our community, we did just that; 1 hour, 1500 cigarette butts, and 150 of you later, we made this cleanup one of the most successful August events that Surfrider Vancouver has seen to date.

 

The first few years of any venture is the hardest. It takes commitment, perseverance, grit, determination, persistence, confidence, humility, hunger, and a positive, never-back-down mentality. But, it also takes a team, your network, your support, your people, and your community, to help make it happen.

 

We started OCIN to be a lifestyle brand that challenges us to rethink the norm; to elevate the standards of swimwear and the industry to levels of high quality, beautiful design, conscious impact, and positivity that we believe is missing. We started OCIN to become a global platform that inspires our most open, free, and positively impactful selves, to motivate awareness and actions for the good of our communities, our earth, and our oceans. We started OCIN to break boundaries and bring like-minded people of all stories and backgrounds together, to give us new spaces to come together to protect and care about the things we love. And, none of these dreams would be possible without any of you.
